After several months of planning and preparation, the Shutter Secondary Lining system designed for the Frogmore connection tunnel has been installed and commissioned.
4 Fullround Shutters with a diameter of 2.6m together with a Transport Gantry were lowered down at the King's George shaft fully pre-assembled.
The system has been engineered to comply with the challenging design of the Frogomore connection tunnel and it is able to work with different lengh configurations; 4m and 6m.
During the last week the first two blocks were successfully lined and the finishing was excellent.
The Frogmore Connection Tunnel is part of the Thames Tideway Tunnel project being constructed by the BAM Nuttall, Morgan Sindall, Balfour Beatty joint venture who are delivering the west section.
